The resort of Valras Plage is a typical French Mediterranean seaside village and has miles of sandy beaches with shallow bathing coves, ideal for kids. There are lifeguard patrols as well in certain areas.
The beach has many activities set up to entertain small children with play equipment and older children with volleyball, swings and zip-wires.
Valras Plage also has a port area for small leisure and fishing boats. A wealth of fish restaurants are available where you can eat the 'catch of the day!
You will be spoilt for choice for shops, bars and restaurants which offer morning coffee and breakfast through to evening meals, which may well be accompanied by the live music and dancing 'spectacles'.
You can't beat a lunch of moules et frites with a cold glass of something wonderful to sip in the sun right next to the beach!
There is also a post office, banks and a helpful tourist office as well as a Casino which has one arm bandits, poker, roulette and black-jack and cabaret shows and dinner.
Look out for the great fish market which sells the days fresh catch in the late afternoons. There are also markets on Monday and Friday mornings selling both local food produce and brightly coloured table linens, raffia bags and ceramics.
Other amenities on offer include boat excursions for fishing or coastal sight seeing. There is also sailing available and a go-kart track just outside the village.
There are several horse riding stables either at Serignan Plage or Portiragnes Plage.
Older children will love the large amusement park at Vias Plage which opens in the evening and continues until midnight or even later!
