Why the owner chose a home in this location:
In 2008 it looked like we were moving permanently to France, so we set about deciding which region and then which town to live in. We considered Dordogne, Var, and Provence. We wanted a medium size village near a major vibrant town, so that as our kids grew up they were near "civilisation". Fairly quickly we decided Aix en Provence was the perfect town to be near. Beautiful, bustling, stylish and cosmopolitan. Within 10 minutes we were hooked. We visited many towns near Aix, and everything and everybody pointed to Rognes, a real village, full of life and beautifully kept. The shopkeepers are friendly, nice bar to enjoy a beer in the sun, 3 remarkably good restaurants for such a modest village, vineyards everywhere. You will love Rognes! |

Unique benefits of the property:
In the summer months you will find it difficult to tear yourself away from the pool. It is heaven for kids and cooling for adults in the endless hot summer. Step out of the living room onto the sun terrace, walk 5 metres, open the secure fence through into the loveliest pool. The near end is wide shallow steps used by our two youngest. The pool deepens to a max 2.3m so diving is totally safe. Given the age of our children the secure fence/gate to the terrace allow us to relax. Rognes is 10 minutes on foot. We can enjoy the market, shops, bar and restaurants without taking the car. There are vineyards all around. You could visit a different one every day to taste Rognes' lovely wines. Endless places to visit within easy driving distance. Rognes is a wonderful place to explore from. |

GUEST COMMENTS
“Sunny and relaxed holidays in a comfortable villa”
Reviewed 23 October 2012 for a stay in July 2012
The house lies near a small village with the typical charme of the provence without being too touristical. It is a good starting point for trips. The house offers much space and it has a splendid and well kept pool with a wonderful view over the landscape. We enjoyed sitting in the shade of the big terrace, which is well equiped. The furnishing of the house is practical and not without charm. Our children loved the X-Box! Last but not least: the house keepers were very attentive and helpful and gave good advice for excursions.
a.. The property was "as advertised".
b.. I recommend the location.
c.. The property was a good value for the price paid.
d.. The property provided wifi/internet access.
e.. My security deposit was returned on time.
“Ideal family accommodation”We had a relaxed and very enjoyable holiday. The accomodation and facilities were exactly right for our extended family group. There was plenty of space, giving freedom to enjoy the house, grounds and swimmimg pool (which of course, was very popular with the children). The house is conveniently situated for access to Aix en Provence and Marseilles, which well suited the senior members of the group!
An ideal venue for families.
Stayed 3 times, Xmas, Easter and summer....just wonderful. Ate on the terrace every day in summer, got a suntan at Easter, and even lunched on the terrace at Xmas. Beautiful house, beautiful area. - Peter L, Huddersfield
Been 2009 and 2010. Our kids and their friends love it. Never out of the pool during the day, and they love the BBQs on the terrace in the evenings, dipping back into the lit-up pool to finish the day off exhausted. Plenty of exciting places to visit within 10-30 minutes drive. They love the waterpark and Zoo - Rob H, Manchester
Stayed late September 2010. 12 of us in two families, including 7 children. was perfect for a big group. Loads of space in the massive living area, the "forest" outside where they played for hours on end, and roomy bedrooms. Couldn't have picked any better place. Anne D , Paris |

LOCAL AMENITIES
Le Mas D'Artimon is located just ten minutes' walk from the lovely Provencal town of Rognes, famed for its wine and truffles....and sunshine! Quiet and peaceful, yet only twenty minutes door to door from the vibrancy of cosmopolitan Aix-en-Provence.
Rognes is a lovely town. Plenty of shops, 3 nice restaurants,a bar and a weekly market. If you can drag yourself away from the pool there are endless places to visit for fun or culture.
There are 3 restaurants in Rognes which are good and family-friendly. Le Piano Gormand opens for lunch and dinner, and you can sit inside or outside, and is quite simple food, pizza, pasta etc...but very pleasant. The finer restaurant is called Ma Cuisine. It serves dinner and the food is lovely. However the portion size is not big.
There is a large Vietnamese restaurant (Le Palais Gourmand) on the road to Aix, about 10 minutes drive. From the front it does not look special but inside it is lovely and the outdoor dining area behind is really nice. Good food and family friendly.
Almost every town or village has a market once or twice a week. The one in Rognes is Wednesdays, and is quite small, but typical and pleasant. For bigger markets Lourmarin,Lambesc and St Cannat are good.
