Villa Auguste - 5 bedrooms, heated pool and fully air conditioned

For shopping there is a Hype U shopping mall 0.5km from the villa and a smaller supermarket just down the road together with Lidl, Picards, a pharmacy and a smaller boulangerie.

Restaurants abound and very good quality menus will cost between 15 and 24 euros per head. Plats du jour start at around 8 euros. Details of our favourite restaurants are in our information pack in the villa.

Family activities are numerous during the season, horse riding, sailing and wind surfing, tennis, paragliding, naturist beaches, canoeing and boat hire and cruises on canal du midi which is in the centre of Agde.

During the evening in the season the town of Agde provides open air concerts and strolling jazz bands, art exhibitions traditional French markets and the most amazing firework displays. There is truly something for all ages and tastes.

Golf
Golf de Nîmes-Campagne is reputed to be one of the most beautiful private golf courses in France - 18 hole with 5 star classification. Golf de Saint-Thomas, Beziers 18 hole for all levels of player. It has woods, hills and stretches of water (close to Beziers, Pezenas and the canal du midi). Golf du Cap d'Agde, 18 hole landscaped by Ronald Fream - remarkable greens guarded by bunkers (close to the largest beach resort in France).

Skiing
Skiing 2hrs plus drive to the Pyrenees - good family skiing, small friendly resorts some with challenging runs.

The villa is set in a private residential road opposite the river Herault and a lovely 10 minute walk into the centre of the old Greek fishing town of Agde. There are beautiful sandy beaches 2km from the villa which can be reached by the cycle track opposite which runs alongside the river Herault to the Mediterranean, or a five minute drive.

In the opposite direction the cycle track runs alongside the river into the centre of Agde and towards the round loch of the canal du Midi.

Coast/Beach
There are a choice of beaches all within a few kms of the villa. Grau d'Agde beach is the closest and has a cycle track from the villa. There is also a 8km stretch of golden sandy beach between Agde and Sete. The beaches are family friendly - plenty of facilities and safe bathing.

Travel
Ryanair and Easyjet have services to Beziers Airport (10 mins from the Villa) . Flights to Carcassonne, Montpellier, Nimes, Perpignan and Girona have rail links to Agde. There is also a Eurostar link to Lille/Paris and TGV to Montpellier/Agde/Beziers. Agde Station is in the centre of the town. To see this area to the fullest a car is recommended. Remember this is the largest wine producing area in the world and you'll be truly amazed at the price and quality.

Distances
The villa is a very pleasant 10 minute stroll along the banks of the river Herault into the centre of Agde or you can use the cycle track into the town. The area is surrounded with places of interest to visit, medieval cities, lakes, mountains, vinyards, Cathar country and of course Spain, just a couple of hours drive away.

NOTE - the English owners live on this site in a self contained apartment with its own separate garden so are on hand should you require any assistance during your stay.

During low season the first floor only is available consisting of 2 double bedrooms sleeping 4 people only, plus all the living space on the first floor and pool etc. This arrangement has worked well for parents + 2 children who share bedroom 2 which has two single beds.
Low season dates are 23 March to 29 June and 25 August to 13 September.

All bed linen is included in the rental rate.

The villa has a secure walled garden and there is plenty of free parking adjacent to the beaches.

The private 'L' shaped heated pool, which is approximately 45m square, is heated for mid-season rentals. It is serviced daily, along with the patio areas. The pool is walled and fenced for the safety of young children. The average depth of the pool is 1.3 metres. There are Roman steps into the pool in one corner making easy access for young children and for the less confident.

The Summer kitchen, which has a shaded dining area, is fully equipped for alfresco dining, with a large Weber gas barbecue, fridge/freezer, full sized cooker, pine kitchen trolley and hot and cold water.

The pool and patio areas are serviced daily between 8 and 9am and again at 9pm when the pool is covered.
