Laroque des Alberes is a lovely, typical Catalan village in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Fantastic views on the mountains and on the sea.
The village is an ideal centre for a vacation, close to the sea, the mountains, and northern Spain, and easily reached by air, rail or car. The city of Perpignan is 30 mins away.
Airports: Perpignan (Ryanair) 40 mins, 25 km, Girona 1 hour, Carcassonne 1 hour 45 mins, Barcelona 2 hours. Motorway access 10 km. Rail station 8 km. |

LOCAL AMENITIES
The Pyrenees Orientales conceals many treasures: varied landscapes of rich beauty, an important architectural heritage, and traditions and a culture that have lasted for centuries.
Set in spectacular countryside with the Mediterranean to the east, Catalonia to the south and Andorra to the west, the Pyrenees Orientales borders are formed by mountain peaks.
The Pyrenees Orientales is a wonderful place to spend a holiday with its warm seas, sandy beaches and fresh mountain air.
As this is such a lush region it comes as no surprise that agriculture features heavily with wine and liqueur wines such as Rivesaltes and Banyuls being the biggest boost to the economy of the area.
If you want total rest and relaxation then you have an amazing choice of baths and springs. Amelie-les-Bains offers chalybeate or sulphurous hot springs.
Perpignan is a lively and historic city and an excellent base from which to explore the eastern end of the Pyrenees and the Cathar castles of the Corbieres.
The beautiful St Cyprien Golf Course and The Canigou Etang Championship are challenging courses surrounded by subtropical vegetation.
There are some fabulous beaches a short distance from Perpignan. Canet Plage is one of the jewels of the Catalan coast and is the favourite seaside resort.
All the beaches around Perpignan are excellent, offering acres of sand in Argeles-sur-Mer or the rocky coastline at Collioure which is a small beach town virtually undiscovered by tourists, where you can dive along a special underwater trail.
