About Mas des Roses

This stunning Mas is located on the plain below the village of Lacoste, and can rightly claim to be one of the most exceptional villas in the Luberon. A romantic Provençal country house, almost 300 years old, it has the aura that only an ancient property can have as it evolves over time; this can never be achieved by new construction. The villa has been tastefully restored and remodelled so you find the best of the ancient and new. The 5 bedroom/5 bath villa and garden were positioned to take advantage of the endless views of Lacoste, Ménerbes, Bonnieux and the entire Luberon.

Once home to a veteran landscape designer, who not only designed the garden but also wrote several books while at the property (including "The Luberon Garden", "The Angel Tree Book" and "The Vine Garden",) the house has been featured in numerous interior design publications including "Dream Homes Country.'

The extensive gardens boast a heated swimming pool with shower suite, carport and many beautiful olive trees, all in a very private setting. A decorative pond lies in the lower garden near a pretty wooded copse. What a wonderful place for your Provence vacation.

Lacoste is a small, ancient Provencal hilltop village in the Luberon. Lacoste is located between Ménerbes and Bonnieux, other beloved villages in the region. The stunning ancient stone buildings connected by narrow ‘calade’-surfaced streets provide a perfect backdrop for wandering around to the local cafés and shops. The town is set in an agricultural area of fertile plains and picturesque hills where fruit growing activities, including cherries and the well-known Cavaillon melon take place alongside the vineyards.

Lacoste is a popular village in Provence, near Bonnieux and Menerbe in the Luberon.

Lacoste is a small, ancient Provencal hilltop village in the Luberon, the region brought to life in the humorous writings of Englishman Peter Mayle, and where travellers seeking to emulate Mayle’s life in the south of France love to spend their summers.
Lacoste is most well-known for its impressive 11th century hilltop château, which towers over the area. Now owned by couturier Pierre Cardin, it belonged to the family of the notorious Marquis de Sade when he lived here during part of the 18h century. Unfortunately the Marquis didn't get to spend a lot of time at the château since he was imprisoned by French authorities for his scandalous writings. The American SCAD—Savannah College of Art and Design—is located in the village so every year young Americans as well as international students of fine arts, writing, architecture, and theatre flock here. A summer music and theatre festival really livens up the village in July, with world class opera, theatre and music. And given the proximity to other Luberon villages, Lacoste is an ideal, central location for your holiday.

(Apt on a Saturday and Coustellet on a Sunday. Coustellet also has a Wednesday night farmers' market during the summer months). Main train station: Avignon Largest airport: Marseille Autoroute access: Cavaillon A7 The Eurostar/TGV from London runs direct to Avignon during the summer. The Mediterranean coast and Marseille lie to the south approximately 100 km away. The Port of Marseille is readily accessible via the Autoroute A7 and Cavaillon. The principal town in the locality is Cavaillon, which is some 17.9km away via the D3 and D2 roads and it is here where most of the usual amenities can be found. The local amenities such as a range of restaurants and small shops can be found at Ménerbes and Lacoste.
