La Fontanelle is a charming house in a quiet corner of Magalas. The owners have stayed true to the house's origins and you will find lots of small reminders that this is a property originally contructed by a wine farmer. It offers a comfortable home-from-home far from the madding crowd. The Argentinian grill is pretty amazing and, because the owner is very fond of cooking himself, you will find the kitchen particularly well-equipped. Air conditioning and a pool make this a very popular property from which to explore the Languedoc.
Don’t just take my word for it … see what our guests thought.
About La Fontenelle
Magalas has always been a favourite village for connoisseurs of the Pays Biterrois (the Béziers area). You'll find several bars/restaurants within easy walking distance of La Fontanelle with an even bigger choice if you visit any of the other local villages.
In common with lots of houses in the region, La Fontanelle has a ground floor garage for parking and the living space is on the first floor.
The kitchen is well-equipped (the owner is a chef!) and opens on to a sun terrace with dining area, a wood burning pizza oven and large Argentine-style grill.
On this floor you will find Bedroom 1 and large bathroom with clawfooted bath.

We could not have asked for a more perfect holiday
As a couple looking to escape the UK weather, we could not have asked for a more perfect holiday than our recent trip to the Languedoc region of southern France. After months of research, we settled on a charming stone house nestled amongst rolling vineyards, just a short walk from the centre of the medieval village of Magalas, hosted by a British couple who cooked local organic produce on their impressive Argentinian style grill, the food and hospitality was wonderful. Even though we were off-season the weather was great (20+ degrees in early November is impressive) and whilst the pool isn’t open at this time of year, sitting around a roaring fire pit and being fed roasted scallops & lamb chops from the grill easily made up for it! The house itself, lovingly restored has all the modern comforts we could want, including a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living area, and tranquil bedrooms overlooking the garden - with a huge bed! Breakfast in the garden (by the fire) in the morning.
